New Renters Checklist

Before your first LA Film Rentals pickup, please complete the required renter steps below so we can verify your rental, insurance, payment authorization, ID, and pickup access.

Annual Production Rental Insurance Required: Direct website rentals require an annual production equipment rental / Inland Marine policy. If you do not have annual equipment insurance, please rent through our ShareGrid profile where short-term coverage may be available at checkout.
Before You Rent

Production Gear Rentals Made Simple

LA Film Rentals is a Los Angeles-based film equipment rental company featuring professional-quality, tested, and well-maintained production gear.

Insurance Required

Direct rentals require annual production rental / Inland Marine insurance with coverage equal to or greater than the rental equipment replacement value.

24/7 Pickup

Pickup and drop-off are available 24/7/365 through our secure and monitored trailer lockbox in West Hills.

ID Verification

New renters must submit valid ID. Out-of-state IDs may require an additional form of ID and selfie verification.

What You Need to Know

Valid ID

A valid federally issued driver’s license, passport, or military ID is required for first-time renters and authorized pickup persons. If your ID is out of state, two forms of ID may be required for verification.

Insurance

Annual production equipment rental / Inland Marine insurance is required for direct rentals. Submit your COI to coi@lafilmrentals.com or upload it through the insurance page.

Credit Card Authorization

A credit card authorization may be required for payment, incidentals, deductible-related costs, missing items, damage, or approved replacement-value deposit arrangements.

Rental Pricing

1–3 days = 1 day. 4 days = 2 days. 5 weekdays = 3 days. 6–7 days = 4 days. Weekends count as 1 day, Saturday through Sunday.

LA Film Rentals is located in West Hills, in the western San Fernando Valley, about 2 miles north of the 101 Freeway off the Shoup exit.

Pickup & Drop-Off

Equipment exchange is available 24/7/365 through our secure and monitored trailer lockbox.

Security

Our location is well-lit, camera-monitored, and set up for safe pickup and drop-off access. You may pull into the driveway to load in and load out.

Communication

Please let us know when you plan to pick up and drop off. If something breaks, goes missing, or you are running late, communicate with us as early as possible.

Inspection Policy

Items are inspected before departure and after return. Larger rental returns may take 1–3 days to inspect. Cleaning, repair, or replacement fees may apply when needed.

Lost, Missing or Damaged Items

If items are damaged, missing, or not returned, you are responsible for repair or replacement costs. The credit card on file may be billed for applicable costs.

Lost & Found

If items are accidentally returned that do not belong to LA Film Rentals, we will do our best to notify you and hold them in lost and found for 90 days.

Included Items

Extension cords may be included with rentals requiring AC power. Sandbags are included with stand rentals. C-stands may be included with some lighting rentals when designated. Bags, backpacks, or cases may be included for safe transport.

Once these steps are completed and your rental is approved, you will receive trailer lockbox access instructions for no-contact pickup and drop-off.

Select Equipment & Dates

Select the items you wish to rent, choose your rental dates, add them to your cart, and checkout to reserve your rental request. This sends us an email so we can confirm item availability. Once confirmed, you can pay using the link in the email or through your account options.

Read & Sign Rental Agreement
Step 2

Read & Sign the Rental Agreement

You must read, understand, sign, and submit the rental agreement online before rental pickup.

Credit Card Authorization
Step 3

Complete Credit Card Authorization

Complete the credit card authorization form. This may be used to pay for your rental and helps cover charges for items that are not returned, returned damaged, or fall below your insurance deductible.

Submit Your Certificate of Insurance

Issue a Certificate of Insurance showing LA Film Rentals is covered if something happens to our gear while it is in your possession.

Please Note: We only accept annual policies for direct rentals from lafilmrentals.com. For short-term policies, use our ShareGrid partner profile to secure coverage at checkout.

Upload Your ID

All new renters must provide a digital copy of a driver’s license, passport, or military ID. If your ID is out of state, another form of ID with the same name may be required.

We also require a selfie with you holding the ID. After your ID is received and verified, you will be provided the trailer lockbox code for no-contact anytime pickup and drop-off.

Once all 5 steps are completed and you receive the trailer lockbox code, you are ready for your rental pickup.
