Video Podcast Equipment Checklist
A reliable video podcast setup starts with clear audio and a repeatable recording workflow. Use this checklist to identify the equipment, connections and room decisions that need confirmation before the session.
1. Decide how many camera angles you actually need
A single locked camera can work for a short creator conversation. Multiple angles create more editing options but also require more cameras, tripods, media, batteries, matching settings and operators. Start with the editorial goal instead of adding cameras automatically.
2. Match the microphone count to the speakers
Each regular speaker should have a dependable microphone path. Dynamic microphones can work well in untreated rooms when speakers stay close to the mic. Confirm stands, XLR cables, mixer inputs, headphone monitoring and the connection to the recording computer or recorder.
3. Use soft, controlled lighting
Two soft bi-color panels can create a practical key-and-fill setup or light two sides of a conversation. Check ceiling height, window direction, wall color and available outlets. Small accent lights can add separation, but they should not replace clean face lighting.
4. Plan support, power and monitoring
Use stable tripods for every camera. Confirm power adapters, charged batteries, formatted media and the monitor path before talent arrives. Bring tested adapters for the computer and avoid relying on an untested USB hub.
